Depression

Depression is a common disorder that generally lasts longer than a period of two weeks. It is not always easy to recognize. Although depression is a serious illness, it can be treated effectively. Diagnosis, determining the cause of a depression, and treatment needs to be done professionally - by a medical practitioner.

1. Do you feel bummed out or ticked off all the time by things that didn't bother you before?

2. Have you stopped enjoying the things you used to do, like sports or being with friends?

3. Are you more tired than usual, and do you find it impossible to focus in school?

4. Are you eating a lot more (gaining weight), or a lot less (losing weight), than usual?

If you answered yes to any one of these questions, you may want to talk to your parents, a guidance counselor, or a doctor.
